AJC SAC Scholarships

A. Introduction

The Anderson Junior College Advisory Committee is offering scholarships to outstanding Secondary 4 students who wish to pursue their 'A' level education in Anderson Junior College.

 

B. Name of Scholarships

There are two types of scholarships

1. AJC Scholarship - Academic

2. AJC Scholarship - CCA

 

C. Value and Terms of Award

1.   The scholarship is valued at $1,000 per year.

2.   The award is tenable for two years starting from the year of enrollment.

 

D. Eligibility

Applicants must:

- be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.

- be Secondary 4 students in a local school in the year 2011.

- not be in receipt of any other scholarship or bursary.(Edusave scholarship and bursary excluded.)

 

E. Criteria

AJC Scholarship - Academic

 (i) Excellent GCE 'O' level results:     Aggregate of not more than 9 points for 7 subjects including EL1.

(ii) Good CCA record: At least a B3 grade in CCA

 

AJC Scholarship - CCA

(i) Outstanding CCA achievements:   For example – member of Combined Schools Team, recipient of National Colours Award.

(ii) GCE 'O' level results: Aggregate of L1R5 not more than 13 points.

(iii) Priority will be given to students with relevant experience and contribution in their secondary school CCAs.

Note: Applicants should abide by the L1R5 criteria of maximum 9 points and 13 points for the Academic and CCA Scholarships respectively. Those who do not meet these basic criteria will not have their applications considered.

 

F. Application

Application opens immediately after the release of the GCE ‘O’ level results and closes two weeks after the Joint Admissions Exercise posting results.

Certified true photocopies of the following documents must accompany the completed application form upon submission.

1.   Applicant's birth certificate or NRIC.

2.   Applicant's latest detailed academic results certified by the secondary school.

3.   Testimonials, CCA records and other supporting documents on academic and CCA achievements.

G. Approval and Notification of applicants

Short-listed applicants will be required to appear for an interview. Successful applicants will be informed in writing and the decision of the Committee is final.

 

H. Scholarship Renewal

Renewal of the scholarship at the end of JC 1 will be subjected to the following conditions.

1.   All scholars are expected to display exemplary conduct and maintain good CCA records.

2a. Academic scholarship recipients must obtain an average of B grade in all their subjects and a grade of D or better in General Paper, in the JC1 Promotional Examination. Recipients should preferably offer a subject at H3 level.

2b. CCA scholarship recipients are expected to continue to represent the college in the CCA. He/She must obtain passes in 3 H2 subjects and passes in 2 H1 subjects including General Paper, in the JC1 Promotional Examination.

 

I. Bond and Penalty

- Recipients are not required to sign any bond, but will be required to sign an Agreement of Offer and Acceptance.

- If the recipient fails to honour the terms of the scholarship, the college will terminate the scholarship immediately.

 

J. Others

1.   The Anderson Junior College Scholarships Committee reserves the right to amend the Rules and Regulations pertaining to these scholarships as and when it deems necessary.

2.   Recipients are responsible for notifying the Committee in writing regarding any change in their personal particulars.
