Dear Parents,

Good morning. I am sure you have noticed the construction of the new hostel at the back of our college since Jan this year. I am writing now to inform you that the building works have progressed and changes will be made to the alignment of the driveway and back gate. A new driveway for cars and pedestrian linkway from Ang Mo Kio Ave 8 leading to AJC is now ready. The existing driveway will be closed from today, Friday 17 Sep, and the new driveway will open from 6 am next Mon 20 Sep. The new entrance is 40 m away from the existing gate, further down the Ave 8, just round the curve, almost directly opposite the MRT station entrance.

I wish to highlight some safety details and appeal for your cooperation to ensure safety of all students and staff in AJC.

For parents driving into the college via Ave 8 entrance:
Please note that the new driveway is narrower than the present one, allowing only one car through at a time without stopping. Cars should only stop to allow students to alight after entering the college and making a right turn at the end of the driveway, where 2 bays are marked out for this purpose (see diagram - drop off point X) . The car bays are just slightly forward from the present position on the existing driveway and students can make their way into the college via LT5 as usual. Cars will then exit the college via the front gate at Ave 6, as usual. In case of heavy rain, cars may turn into the college and drop the student in the covered porch area before driving out.

Please drive slowly and observe the speed limit of 20 km/h within the college premises, give way to students who use the zebra crossing at the end of the walkway, and also allow teachers' cars to turn into the college before you exit through the gate at Ave 6.

For pedestrains entering the college via Ave 8 gate :
The new covered pedestrian linkway is broader than the temporary one we had for 6 months. Students must use the pedestrian crossing at the end of the linkway to ensure safety as they walk into college. Please look out for cars entering the college before using the zebra crossing outside LT5 to enter the college.
There will be staff stationed to help direct traffic to the college in the morning next week. Some signs will be put up along Ave 8 to help direct cars to the new entrance. I would like to appeal to all drivers to exercise care and caution to drive slowly into the college in the mornings.
